A joke reward. When more than 70 percent of players not going to eble to vote because you need to play everything in a category it's not a fair vote. It should instead be based on how much you have played a certain game to be able to vote on that. Because that is a game that you really like and would vote on regardless if you had play the other games or not in that category.

The votes was a joke last year and more this year when only a few "experts players" on this site can vote. Have been here and been a premium player for years. I can't vote because I play only a few games which I like. I'm not going to waste time with games I don't care about. But you seems to want to thin out the player base here.

Next time please increase the voting time to 20-30 days :D

I actually felt like 1 didn't have enough experience to vote despite having played most things multiple times, but I did anyway. I was tempted to say folk should have to play all the things 3x, or have won once, or be at 100ELO.... but then I do think that'd be unfair for folk who actually learn the game but just struggle with strategies or know after 1x that they don't want to play more.

To folk complaining about only playing your faves... how do you know they are your faves if you haven't played the others???

I totally agree the length of voting isn't enough though - 35 days would be ideal imo. And that would allow folk to play a few games.

Having to play all games in a category is a great idea, but it really doesn't work well with only having a 10 day voting period. Some of us mostly play turn-based, and we really need the time to be able to play the games we're missing (and actually learn the rules for some of the heavier games. (I'm not sure a single play of Age of Innovation or Darwin's Journey is going to give me the full picture.)

Also, you talk about exploring hidden gems, but then each category is just the most popular games in that category? Limiting it to 4 in a group makes sense, but then you really ought to have a category specifically for some of the less-played games. Maybe the top games in the bottom 25% of plays or something?

(Also, it seems like this method disadvantages longer games that were released later in the year.)

It's such a mystery how/why you choose the nominees you've chosen. Why is Ark Nova not nominated for best animal themed game? It's one of the most popular games on here.

Anyway, I like that you require us to have played all the nominees in a category in order to vote. But agree with others that 10 days is short! Will try my best!

Because this is for 2024 releases and Ark Nova's release was in 2023 and Ark Nova already won Best Expert Game in last year's awards when it was actually eligible.

That makes sense, but I'm still confused why some 2024 releases were omitted (e.g. Odin is not one of the 4 options listed under casual games).

And in case anyone else was trying to look up last year's results, here they are: https://boardgamearena.com/news?id=752

I definitely have some games to play over the next week!!

Because in any awards system, including the Oscars and Grammys, there is always someone asking why content X wasn't nominated for category Y, when clearly content Z nominated in category Y is inferior to content X (in their opinion). Unless you're going to nominate *everything*, something is not going to be nominated.

Mojo is another great casual game released in 2024.

Played over 1000 games during 2024, and I can't vote on any of these lol. Guess I won't vote.
