17 new games in 10 days? No, it won't work...

Well.....i played A LOT (mostly turn-based) in 2024, but my best category to vote in i only have played 2 matches (expert game). For weeks i am in a 5-player "Age of Innovation" which is a great game, but lasts really really long! I fear this wont finish in this shord period of time, so i started a new 2-player "AoI" with 3 Turns a day (real time is to heavy for this), to become eligle to vote in my favorite category. Although my favorite will be "Darwin's Journey", where i hope to get the 2nd map (expansion) implemented. I really like to vote but the conditions are not really good.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the feedback on this year's BGA Awards! We wanted to give you all a chance to play the games before voting, so we made the list a bit shorter compared to last year and added more time (10 days vs. 1 week).

However, we got your feedback and understand that 10 days is a bit tight for some games (looking at you, Age of Innovation), so we're extending the voting deadline to Monday, February 3rd.

Now go forth and play!

Have fun :)

Thanks so much! This might give me a chance to finish a category or two. You rock!

I appreciate the deadline being extended - thank you BGA! Also at first I found it frustrating I couldn't vote immediately for my favourite games in a couple of the categories but now I had to learn the others in that category I think this is a fair system and also a great way to discover other games (either ruling them out or now getting to add another game that I like

It is nice to have an example of BGA responding promptly to well-reasoned feedback. I hope this spirit will carry over to other issues.

Nice for extending the timer.

I would love to see a weighting system: play 1/4 of the games? Then your vote is worth .25 of what it could have been.

I do like how it has encouraged me to play some more games. I still am voting Cartographers (I’ve played 700 games across BGA and IRL - no way I’d vote elsewhere) but I think I it’s a fair system that people who have played them all get the say.

Most of your games aren't enjoyable to play, since you allow people to quit right at the end with no penalty.

If I have played 3 out of 4 games in a category, I think I have a good enough coverage to pick my favourite.
You will end up with a very low turnover in the voting, which will make it less accurate.
I agree with you. Most of them i played in real life, that is where the BG have their basic purpose, i don't have time to try all of them to make a vote. I think it's an useless award at this point.
