Reserved Loki card discard?

BGA just let my opponent recruit a mercenary and then discard a card. He was able to discard a card that was reserved with Loki. Is that allowed in the real game or just a bug. It seems counterintuitive to Loki's power and Loki's power can be nullified in almost all situations. Thoughts?

It looks like rules-as-written, you are allowed to discard the Loki-reserved card.

just think of it as one more trick.

It’s like using Odin to return olwyn. And then having another player pick olwyn but not receive his doubles.

Or having thrud count for act 1 level rewards.

Or upgrading your 25 coin into something.

In other words, just a neat interaction where the card behaves correctly, even if it doesn’t behave in the way you expect.

… it’s even thematic, tricking the trickster.
