I would never play turn based; I'm nowhere near patient enough/ have too much ADD for it.
So you never want to play with people around the world in different time zones? And never enter a BGA tournament? Ok.

Hi Rrook - I have nothing against against other people, different time zones, BGA tournaments and all of it. I just do not enjoy turn based. I am glad you, and many other do. Keep enjoying these! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

StijnArnauts wrote: 09 December 2024, 19:42 How about if the setup turn is split into three actions: first choose a corporation, next choose prelude cards (when playing with prelude), finally pick hand cards. Would that multiply the available total time by three?

Company, prelude and hands cards would still all need to be visible at each step. And preferably, players should be able to already pick their prelude cards and hand cards even if not everyone has finished choosing their corporation. I don't know how feasible all of that is with the BGA framework.
This is the correct answer.

Thinking about it, this would only be possible without an undo.

The triple set up described above seems a good option, I'd upvote it too.

Oh no, I am sorry, I typed that up real fast, didn't mean to be harsh. It's just that there a group of players like myself really enjoy turn based. You should really try it again. It solves all your concerns and you can setup a 24 move per day game, so essentially you just play a live game with a better pool of time.

About turn based, I will likely try turn based again but not soon; I find myself too expectant for the other player to make his / her move. I also would need to take notes of the cards I saw ( global requirement cards, attack cards, etc. ) where in a live action game I can and mostly do remember the cards I've seen and what I'm playing around. Anyways, to each their own obviously. Have fun everyone.

I exclusively play with friends without a timer, so I propose someone else makes a suggestion for the triple starting turn if it seems like a good idea.

There's a feature suggestion (site-wide) to implement something like this here, where you have smaller increments of time per move, but a larger max bank of time and starting amount:

I felt the same way at the beginning of the 1st season when they added prelude, but I’ve gotten use to it. You will also. There’s a nice strategy to pick. You just select a better corp, better preludes/project cards by rank and then work backwards eliminating cards that don’t make sense with the strategy you plan to implement. This will get you under a minute every time after 10 or so games.

I enjoy the short clocks. It adds pressure and critical thinking under pressure skills and helps to weed out the players who are “mathing” out every move or might have a spreadsheet open to help them pick the right start.

Trust me there are players who do this, and it makes real-time a much more raw, challenging experience than turn-based.
