GTSchemer wrote: 10 January 2025, 18:02 Still no estimate, but a quick update:

* I added custom table host setup this week (import a map, assign players, adjust factions if needed). This took a while.

* The next priority is the remaining flagships (and if I recall correctly, 1 custom faction unit).
All flagships and faction units are now done for the 6 starter factions. This week I noticed I have exceeded the 100,000 lines of code mark between PHP, JS, and CSS. That's a lot.

The next priority is probably either action cards (still 27 to go) or the transaction/deal system (likely the single most complex thing remaining).

I feel like you're next update will be, "I'm now working on recoding DNA as the basis of life...it'll make the tech cards easier on everybody we're we're all uploaded into our silicon bodies..."

Thanks for the updates as always.
This is easily my favourite game...
Be good to have another way to play it!
How will it compare to existing online versions like Discord Async and Twilight Wars?
And as it takes so long to finish a game, will there be a halfway house between async and live play? eg be able have several split sessions of live play?

Sure, there's nothing stopping you from playing a turn-based game in real-time, you just have to organise that bit yourself. Certainly works with a family and friends group.
There is also the option to switch a real-time game into a turn-based game.

I'm currently estimating most work other than non-starter factions should be done by April 8.

Of course things change if anything comes up, and who knows if public alpha would be approved before then, but that's the current estimate.

What a huge undertaking, thanks for what I'm sure is a lot of mentally taxing work! 💪
