Can we report a player who intentionally concede at the final round of the game knowing s/he's gonna loss?

Post by peggy0221 »

It was the final turn of the game, and the other player knowing full well he's gonna loss. And all of a sudden, the game end and I just got 1 point. I didnt know what happened, and then I checked the player's playing history, he deliberately concede the games he lost so that his opponent didnt get ELO!!!

He only stay for those winning games!! And there doesnt seem to have a way to report this kind of poor behaviour. What should I do?

Conceding does NOT affect elo outcome.

You seem to be talking about game https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=624838822.

For this game you got +9 Elo points. This is the correct amount, there is no deduction because your opponent conceded. Also your opponent lost the correct amount of Elo points. There is no penalty for conceding in a 2-player game.

The only difference (which is what confused you) is that there was no final scoring. Thus the end score was 1:0 for you. But ELO gain/loss is not affected on the final score. Only whether you win or lose matters for ELO and their conceding gave you a full win.

Obviously there are different opinions on conceding a game. Most people are happy that the option exists because it shortens games that are already decided. It is not fun to drag on a game when you know you will be surely winning it and it is even less fun to drag on a game when you know you will be surely losing it.
On the other hand many players will agree that it is somewhat unsatisfactory when a game is conceded in the final move - since the argument of time saving does not even hold there. Still even such a conceding is perfectly allowed according to BGA policy.

And so having not seen the calculation and not understanding how the concede option worked you still chose to immediately come to the forum and make a completely false claim about it?
Of course you can't report your opponent for behaving in a completely normal and appropriate way.

Thanks for talking the time!! I have looked from the Q&A and nothing really answered my questions.
And thanks for explaining in a very civil way!

I always thought it was indeed like that, but I have now this guy * who is always conceding games and I'm not receiving any elo for it. for example: * . Is this a bug? He has been doing this on 4 or 5 games recently

edit: seems like the more you concede against a specific person, the less ELO you lose? if you look at the game history, at first he was losing 3 ELO, then 1, now always 0 * or maybe it is about the total game history with a player and has nothing to do with conceding? Apparently I have a very long consecutive win (26 games) against him (I think he will win the next one though :D )

*Moderation Edit: please do not use the Forums to call out specific tables or players by name, this is what the Moderation Reports are for. The Forums should remain a general discussion.

It's not about conceding, but about consecutive wins: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33785
