Thanks for continuing that update an old game.

A couple comments from my perspective.

I like that the clean up animation after each row is played is faster. But it might be a little bit too fast.

I have mixed feelings about showing the point value of each row to the player needs to take a row. I can’t totally articulate why. Possibly because as a more experienced player, I’ve seen people make strategic errors and take rows with more points. 😛

But I also think it forced players to slow down and think about which one to take. Often when there are rows with equivalent point values, one of them is “better” as it will force another player to also take a row.

Having the points displayed might cause people to just take the uppermost row when there are rows with equivalent point values.

Put another way, having to count the points in a row was undoubtedly slower. But it also benefited players who were “paying attention”.

Was this a requested feature?

Thanks. I wasn’t clear. I meant the display of the sum of points in a row when a player must choose a row to take (after playing the sixth card in a row).

I like the more detailed logs. Counter argument would be that someone who really wanted to “cheat” could use the log to see what has been played in a round. Granted, that was possible before with a pad of paper.

I suggested that 1-round games might be good for tournaments, however I might be wrong. Switching tables that often might be unpopular. Let’s find out.

I setup this tournament for Saturday. https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=361915
10 rounds total. We might be done in less than an hour.

This is short notice, let’s see how it goes.

Thanks for updating, but for me the cards fly way too fast.

Thanks for the update!

I've played the game a bunch of times now just to make sure to get used to the new adaption before pointing out anything.

My thoughts so far:
It feels to me that the card placement animation is a tad too fast and I'm sure a lot of people think the same.
Also, the game log is pretty messy. I don't think it's necessary to show what card was played by whom and follow it up with logs for each individual move. It's just an overload of unnecessary information.
Part of the fun of the game is to keep track of previously played cards yourself. I can see how the feature can be useful in turn-based mode, but I think it should definitely be optional in real-time games.

First of all, thanks for adding the extra game settings. And also for the option to get rid of the yellow triangle. I agree with some of the other comments that there's also some new features that don't work so well.

1) most importantly for me, the addition in the game log that registers every card played by every person takes away too much from the game. Part of the strategy is to remember which card has been played. If you do, you may have an advantage over some people that didn't remember the cards. That's part of the skill. If a player is so fanatic that they use pen and paper to keep track of the cards, ok, but we don't want to make it too easy, right? Also, many games have surprising turns if someone forgets a card that appears later after all. That's part of the fun (except perhaps for the person that has to take a row, but that's the game!) and that has been taken away now. Some people may prefer the extended log because it makes playing easier for them, but I think it lowers the skill and uncertainty component that every cardgame needs for it to stay interesting.
If there's mixed reactions about this, with some people wanting the extended log (with card numbers) and others don't, then perhaps as a midway solution you could add this to the game settings for the whole table to see the card numbers in the log or not. Now, you can actually choose in your personal settings to not use the game log, but that's just for you and others can still see it so that gives unequal advantages.

2) the animation of placing the cards on the tables is a bit too fast now, I have trouble following it. Somewhere in between the previous slow animation and this fast one would be optimal, I think

One more thing, the highlight or line around the selected card in your hand is barely visible (at least when you have dark screen mode on on your computer or phone). You can slightly distinguish it because it pops forward a little bit but it's very hard to see. The red line round it only appears when you click on it twice but then you also get the message "you already selected this card".
Is there a way to fix this?
