XP differences for same award across different games?

Post by ShaPhi7 »

What is the logic for the amount of XP awarded for awards for each game?

I notice the following:

For 1st win at Splendor, I get 8xp
For 1st win at Splendor Duel, I get 15xp
For 1st win at Exploding Kittens, I get 4xp

Sorry if it has been asked before, searching proved difficult as "xp" is too deemed too short to be searched!

XPs for some trophies are determined by user pool size or game length.

It also varies with time for the same game, as the number of players increases. When I got my first group of "Top N" awards for Space Base, "Top 5" got me 600 XP. When "Top 20" was added to the game, two months later, it got me 750 XP. It looks very odd in my trophy cabinet.

Correct. & this is a problem because you can’t win the award twice. So if you win 1st place early and it awards 5 or 10,000xp if you remain on top when the player pool increases to a number that it would grant 30,000xp you won’t receive those points. At least to my knowledge.

I have seen players complain about mysteriously losing xp which idk if anyone ever explained the cause of this. But I haven’t heard anyone say they mysteriously gained a bunch of xp.

Games are removed, or moved to alpha, and the corresponding awards (and XP) disappear. Competitive features (including Arena) for some games are removed, and the Arena awards disappear. Players are moderated and punished, and their awards removed.

Hmmm. So why can’t bga remove xp from known cheaters? Is it because in the above example they are removing it from everyone and they don’t have the capability to remove it on an individual basis?

Thanks for those explanations Jellby. I wondered why I lost exp at times. But I play a lot of beta games. So when they went live. Is where I probably lost exp. And it seems the longer the game the more xp for 1st win. Maybe more to it than that.

But also, we probably hear people complain a lot when they lose xp, but nobody complains when they gain xp haha!
Thanks everyone for all of the info.

I am just asking a question out of curiosity here -

What good is XP anyways?

What is it for?

What does it do for me?

How does it benefit/hurt a player to have/not have XP?

After a few months here, I don't see the importance of it (unless it is hiding from me).

There is nothing to do with it, nothing to trade it for, nothing to earn from it, that I can see.

Please educate me.

Afaik the process was manual for a long time, so it was rarely performed.
However, recently BGA implemented a quick award/rating stripping process and now it is in effect.
