Hi, Wreck!
Thanks for giving it a try! I saw how stressful it was yesterday on the chat to try to help everyone's issue. Weel done!
I'll kick it off. In fact the tournament is a workable idea. Compared to our usual manual setup, it manages the game participants automatically keeps your hands free) Some adjustments that imho would make the game more enjoyable:
1. Reduce time per round to 4-5 minutes
2. Consider having a game with 33 points instead of 1 round: a person with the very bad cards in the 1st round deserves a second chance to come back). Also. I've spent more time waiting for the next table than actually playing the game - in that extent 4 games with 33 points have a better play/wait balance than 1 round games.
3. There was a strong correlation between people leaving / not showin up and their rating. It could be better to cut participants with ELO <200 and reputation <85 off from the tournament.
4. There shall be no difference between people skipped-off due to insufficient participants on the table and people not playing because their rivals haven't showed up. Yesterday, the first always received 4 points and the second - 4 to 6 points, dependant on how much players were absent on that table.
5. Not sure whether this is feasible with current implementation on BGA: players who have incomplete tables due to their rivals not showing up - shall be re-shuffled to make complete tables as much as possible.
6. The setup, where players are allocated to the tables based on their interim tournament score is not quite fair: it's much harder to score points on the golden table compared to the iron one.
