Will this version only be the base game or will the expansion be added either at the start or later on?
It is only the base game. One of the most common FAQ items I will have to close bug reports with is the already existing entry for "I never play without Prophecy of Kings" / "I never play without house rule XYZ" / "I never play without this codex content" -- those will not be on BGA, at least for now.

The module is implemented with Prophecy of Kings in mind, but that expansion would take a ton (more) time to program, so I doubt I would be approved to develop it.

Lucky found the answer to the question I was looking for in the 20 pages xD

Hope it gets to Open Alpha soon, ready to play some TI4 on BGA! =D

Been lurking on this thread for a while now but now felt an urgent need to create a short post seeing where this might be headed. Apologizes in front if I am being too direct but if they are specifically withholding expansion content their intention (as has happened before) might be to gauge / create interest for an individual Twilight Imperium game app. With that in mind it would be a good practice to assure rights for all the current and upcoming content before releasing the game on BGA.

I want to avoid confusion, so I will try to be very clear:

* FFG is directly authorizing TI4 on BGA.
* FFG has been amazing to work with and very supportive.
* In my personal opinion, I assume FFG would be happy for Prophecy of Kings to come in the future.

I am just not sure I, as an individual developer, would be allowed by BGA to work on it since it took so long for me to build the base game framework. It took over 100,000 lines of code and I am happy that the framework has been robust, but I understand impatience due to it taking so long.

I think the only issue was that "soon" part of the banner when it was announced. If they had just said "coming to BGA!" or even "now being developed for BGA!" people would have been more tempered for the possible timeframe. TI is one of the most complicated "what can you do" board games out there, and to take it on single handedly? Bravo Sir! Robust is much preferred!

When that banner appeared, I had dev(s) reaching out to me and being like "did they warn you before putting up the banner? That's a lot of pressure."

No, no one warned or asked me. To this day I still don't know who chose to do it.

Dunno man, I wouldn't sweat it. I think most people understand coding this game is a colossal undertaking and are appreciative of your efforts! I know I am at least.

Hope you don't burn out and FFG is happy enough to sponsor the expansion someday, but starting with just the base game implementation, testing, and launch makes sense for everyone IMO.

Step 1: Read the thread. Like, any of it. The first few posts, or the last few before yours. Or any.

Testers are valued for their observational skills and ability to clearly communicate game issues. This sort of post entices developers to steer clear of you.
