I upvoted the suggestion \ bug on this thread. I also don't enjoy turn based so a bit more time to start sounds good to me.

I would never play turn based; I'm nowhere near patient enough/ have too much ADD for it.
I cannot fathom why this would be impossible.
It would require adding some lines of code.
If(Gen==1):
timer+=[however much extra time is agreed upon]

How difficult can this possibly be?

It's impossible, I looked into it, it's a framework issue.

So, not exactly impossible, just no possible under the current framework. Is the framework set in stone?

(I'm curious as to how exactly a given framework would make this impossible, and I'd be interested in reading a detailed technical explanation if one is written somewhere,)

RoyalRook Seems, from what I can tell, to be a veteran member of these forums, and knowledgeable about the inner workings. RoyalRook said it's not workable within the existing framework. I am not knowledgeable enough to know exactly what that means, but RoyalRook probably wouldn't say that if it were not accurate.

Notice, I I did not use any pronouns, because I do not want to make assumptions about preferred pronouns.

I completely agree. I cannot believe that they can create an entire game full of complex logic, but cannot add a simple IF statement to increase turn length if it's the first turn.

Here is the link to the bug/feature request that someone already created, everyone please vote for it.

Agreed... an extra 30-60 seconds during the picking phase, regardless of game speed, would really be nice. This way we can play faster games, and still have time during initial picks to get it all right (well... to try to get it all right ;)).

Without preludes it takes me approximately 30-45 seconds to make my picks. But with 4 preludes to also choose from, I could see that being stressful with the very limited turn timer. It's odd that a game like Race for the Galaxy has a 5-minute turn timer on the slowest setting, whereas TFM's max is 2:42 or something like that. Entire games of RFTG only take 10-15 minutes.
