I was unable to "abandon" the game. I could not go to another game to play. I even tried signing out and then signing back in...but I was always met with the message "you are currently playing in game #" or something of that sort. I tried everything I could, until I finally just had to take the penalty and quit the game. There should be a remedy for a situation like this where the other person just goes offline in the middle of a game. And maybe there is, but if so, it needs to be more obvious of a solution.

I love BGA and totally enjoy playing, but I really try to keep my reputation clean and this was twice now that I have received an undeserved penalty. I don't seem to have a problem finding others who will include me in games, so maybe this isn't a big deal all in all.

In turn-based games a vacation mode is essential, there needs to be a distinction between "I don't care to play anymore" and "I'm temporarily unable to play, sorry". I see no reason why someone should get penalized for going on vacation - and either having to quit all my games before the trip or being skipped/expelled from all of them during my absence is a great way not only to kill my reputation, but also my interest in playing on BGA, period....
Also after I was bumped from several of my games during my vacation, I now have so many leave penalties that I can hardly join any games until those will expire in 60 days, even though I have done nothing wrong and have never quit a single game. So the decision to drive me away from BGA has effectively been made by others.

Surely this must affect others. How can it be that there's no vacation mode?

I also want to note that at least in Stone Age the theoretical possibility to re-enter the game did not exist - when my turn came and the game skipped me, it did not increase my available time, so it stayed in the negative forever and I was never able to rejoin the game after coming back from vacation although many moves remained.

I'll see you on Yucata, and you can go on vacation if you like. :D

Why is the system saying I can't play Lost Cities because I quit more than 10% of my games when the only games I have ever quit are after someone else has run out of time???
