Ok, I won my first game ever by playing MD. The doc was so behind, but I roll 3! 3 Smash, so 9 hit instant death. If my kids did that, they will be really happy. So in that light, I think it's pretty cool. I don't think MD should get the Monsterous Focus sticker for it though, technically the doc didn't roll same on all 6 dice.

The only reason I think MD is overpowered is because with it almost no dice roll is wasted. You just have to keep the "!" and the damage, and keep rolling. If you get only one "!" fine, you just cause normal damage. If you roll two, you double the damage. Even if you get no energy at all, you'll keep getting 1 every round, and eventually be able to buy something big, and by hoarding energy you also force the opponent to keep discarding the display, to try to deprive you of the good cards. It is a very boring and braindead strategy that is not fun to play, nor to play against. IMO one way to balance this would be not letting MD gain energy the turn he uses his nuclear breath (which would also be thematic, since an attack like that must consume a lot of energy)

Having said that, I also have to say that the funniest matches that I played were 90% me against MD. Against MD no win is guaranteed, even if you have lots of broken cards, so every single match you are on a razor's edge. If the game was made with kids in mind (or parents playing against their kid), I can understand why MD is in the game.

Meka dragon is dangerous but the game offers you a range of way to counter it. And boy is it satisfying to counter it.
I'm a smart guy but I literally can't think of a way to counter somebody doing like 4-9 damage naturally each turn right from turn 1... There's not like a natural "healer" or a natural "block" to counter it. I've lost several games before I even could buy a card due to the Meka Dragon. Sure, if you survive five turns then you can maybe start buying cards and doing other things to counter it but my issue is that it's hard to survive even a few turns against this power sometimes. With three rolls and two dice face to target, it's not hard for the opponent to get 3 to 6 claws+"!" on each roll to begin with. I truly think this should have been that "!" or claws could do damage; it shouldn't be a multiplier. That's insane. That's just my two cents though. Ultimately, I don't see myself playing this game very often in its current state anyway. There are better balanced games out there.

But, haha, I do love the tush push analogy. Go Birds!
Best counter I’ve used is gigazaur and just get an early spotlight. You can’t out heal so you need to win faster

I haven't played many games yet but Meka Dragon is so boom or bust. It's pretty fun to play as and against.

You have to get lucky to generate crazy power under normal circumstances, but if they can get an extra die somehow the odds get much scarier.

Hitting them early helps a lot. Or if they swing and miss early they may fall behind on power ups and then they're almost entirely luck reliant.

Meka dragon is both OP and anti fun to me. Right from turn 1, you do your boring thing and most often than not you'll win... Brainless...

Can we have an option to exclude that monster ?

Totally agree with you guys (and girls.) Each of my opponents or almost take MD... And wins without any strategy 😬 Kills all the game

I think this is a solid solution, or just make the character not ever gain the default "free" energy

I just discovered the game. I got wrecked by the Meka Dragon in no time.
So I picked it up, and I defeated my opponent in three turns without even trying.

I’ve only played a handful of games so far, so I still need to dig deeper, but it feels like it kind of breaks the game’s core concept—way too unbalanced.

----

I will agree that it is frustrating when such a linear plan works. But for that to happen they have to be lucky. You notice it when it happens but just as often it doesn’t and they are left with a bunch of nothing. Penguin and Kitty can run rings around Meka. Penguin can smash or heal with 7 dice and Kitty can churn through cards to spam health. In conclusion sure, Meka can win in a few boring rolls but… ask anyone who plays him, it doesn’t happen that often
