It doesn't seem right to me

Post by BRKBad »

I'm 51 years old, two children and a wife (much more demanding than the children :)) I don't think I'm the only one here!? There are situations where you are forced to abandon a match even if you don't want to, out of respect for your opponent.

However, you are penalized by removing the possibility (among the various penalties) of replying to your opponent in chat at the end of the game (for example to thank him for the fun shared. Banalizing: "GG" so to speak). I find it excessive.

There is a risk of passing off as rude people who are not rude and who have the sole fault of not being able to complete a game due to greater forces (let's say so).

For this reason I would ask you to consider maintaining the penalties already foreseen and to eliminate the prohibition on being civil and correct in being able to respond to the opponent.

It may seem stupid but, personally, I want to be polite

I apologize for the use of a translator and hope that you will consider my question, I thank you for the service offered and I wish you a "good match!"

I didn't realise that a player would be blocked from using the game chat if they did this... 🤔

Given that BGA is unlikely to make any change here, I guess your two solutions are to either do all your messaging before abandoning, or message the player directly. 🤷‍♂️

I wish you well for the future and happy gaming.

Maybe the remaining player(s) in the abandoned game have given you a red-thumb which means that they don´t want to meet you again in any other game - no matter what was your reason to leave the game. As far as I know, you can´t send a personal message to players which have given you a red thumb (including chat), there are good reasons for that (red thumbs can also be given because of the general behaviour with others). A message before leaving the game explaining the reason may help, just as Stu_1977_SEmelb proposed.

I think OP is talking about karma penalties making you unable to chat if your karma goes too low. That has no solution except trying to abandoning less frequently

If you play 2p games just concede instead of abandoning. If you play games with an higher player count maybe consider the possibility of playing 2p games when you're not sure you can finish the match.

I understand what you mean and thank you for the suggestions. I have to say "mea culpa", I actually never notified in chat before abandoning the match. I will take your suggestions into consideration. TKS!
