I remember his steam posts and his BGG posts. I used to post prolifically on both forums. Jay and I played a lot of games. Yes, he was a good player, but was he really one of the best if not the best? He was generally in the top 20, but not in the top 5. The player "Meathook" was almost always in the top spot in the early days (and probably would have stayed there if he had continued to play). Another player "Ed is a thief" was right there with Meathook much of the time. I learned a lot from "Ed is a Thief". I know he and Jay played a lot. I think "Ed is a thief" had the edge against him and had a higher rating. But, all this was many years ago.RoyalRook wrote: ↑12 March 2025, 16:07Yes, he is no doubt one of if not THE best player in the world in the early days. One of my best friends in the community. Go read ALL his article on Board Game Geek, they will level you up and save you 2000+ hours of game play. Till this day I don't know why, but somehow my playing style counters his really well among the top players, maybe because I study his game alot and read all his high level concepts. Highlander also helped me a lot and made far better Phobolog player, it's actually one of my favorite corps because how much more efficient I play the corp more than others.FrankJones wrote: ↑12 March 2025, 03:34 Jay, as in Jaymc1130? If I am remembering the name correctly.
I mean no slight to Jay here. He won against me more than he lost. It seems Jay does not play here on BGA for some reason.
