elo is like loot in Android game it prey on weak people and their need to feed their self with illusion of achievement .. prize ( like good point you give children for success) and being best or better than someone else ...to satisfied their ego..

so making things like elo and all the ** achievements token attract more weak people to your company.. game... whatever
some of them will even spend money buying premium and even if they don't the more menber you have , bigger you get more popular you get , then more people then more paying sucriber and investors blablabla

and that's how you make money
