Workarounds for browser-failed-to-start-game problem

Post by mickalot »

I've incurred a large number of penalties lately from arena games that start without my browser switching to the game, then someone at the table ejects me before I have a chance to realize that the game has started. Is there a way to address this problem?

I feel like I'm getting the worst of both worlds -- I'm sitting there waiting/not playing *and* I get ELO/karma penalties for what seems to be slow communication between BGA and my browser. I feel like it often comes in waves -- that I'll get punted from two or three games in a row, and my karma will drop to the point where I'm no longer eligible for Arena mode -- and while I realize that it's frustrating for everyone involved, it's extra frustrating for me, because I *want* to be playing and am actively *trying* to participate. The penalty doesn't incentivize me to do anything different, it's just annoying in that I find out that a game has started and *boom* I'm already late to the table and/or have been ejected.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Suggstion: could we not ding karma for someone who's ejected before they interact? I don't care about ELO, but the loss of karma means that I can't chat or play in the arena.

What browser version are you using, and what platform?

Is it wired Ethernet or wifi?

Usually Chrome on iOS or MacOS or Linux, and usually WiFi.

A common thing is for me to use BGA to pass the time by playing on long public transportation journeys, so flaky/intermittent connections are not uncommon.
