I do agree it would be nice to have elo filters available in elite arena league. I haven't played any TFM arena since I prefer 2p personally, but in other games as cranesflyhigh says there's huge skill variance within the elite arena league. In some ways playing 'normal' games is superior, since you can set the filter to >500 elo and almost certainly get a skilled opponent, vs. rolling the dice in arena.

As for 2p vs. other player counts, not sure there's anything left to be said that hasn't already been said in the other thread, but I agree with the general sentiment that we're all just here to have fun playing games, and if you prefer playing at N players for any N that's great.

@HappyMeal: I think if turn-based and real-time had a decent player overlap, this would not be an issue. I am not sure this is the case in this game - you can pretty much make a clear distinction in most player profiles whether they play this or that. Which are... fairly different games.

The other point however was the point grind on low rated players. The current arena leader had their first "Expert Assassin" title fairly recently - which is very telling. A system which incentivizes people to grind on lower skill opponents just to get to the top is a bad system.

@FrankJones Uhhh, sorry, when I get into mass replies like this... I get jumbled up. I did mean to respond to you, but the tagging was wrong, so here we are... my bad ':D Reading back on it: I do agree with your points back then and with your takes as your response right now. So yeah. Sorry for the confusion ':D

@brh2113 Unsure what other thread you are referencing, but yeah, elo filters would solve some of the issue. So would demoting leagues honestly, but BGA probably doesn't want to do that. I am however not a game designer, or competitive system designer, nor am I maintainer of a site that wants people to come back to it, so not sure what the best solution is, but I am pretty certain that for competitive gameplay, that this isn't it. On the player count debacle, I think (?) we are on the same page though.

@RoyalRook It is really hard to engage with you in any meaningful way, as you keep posting these egotripping, condescending posts. Even if you were as good as you claim you were, I would look into your incessant need to WHY you post like this.

No worries :)
It's a convoluted thread, and I realized immediately the error. My pointing it out was mainly my way of reaffirming that I agree with you.

(I would advise you to delete that last portion of your post. It doesn't bother me, and I agree; but, I was given a severe penalty last week for basically saying the same thing. I lost 50 Karma and got a 24-hour chat ban. The moderators are VERY sensitive to anything that could be construed as "insulting", and the list of examples they give is very limited, only including thins like "loser" and curse words. But saying that you think someone is being condescending - the moderators consider that an insult. It's not worth the risk.)

Haha, good then :3

(I do not think I was out of line in any way. I had an earlier post moderated for family friendly reasons, which I find understandble, even though top of my head do not know what the term for it would be, as the term inherently has a non family friendly word in it. I am willing to risk that last portion to be still included, as that person's behavior was pretty much factually condescending, which I think is a family friendly word. And if my post gets moderated for this word while said person's repeated negative behavior is tolerated... I dunno. I might be the bad guy here, but I think if we see repeated negative behavior on the site, we should call it out, so there is less of that negative behavior down the line. Okay, maybe rambling here, sorry :D)
