No workers and no coins

I played with a player who always had zero workers and zero coins on his board, but he made plays in which he used these resources. How is this possible? Can we hide our resources?

There is no option to hide your resources.

Maybe this was just a glitch in the UI? Have you tried to refresh (F5) during the game? Have you checked the replay, if you can see the resources there?

There are a lot of yellow tiles that let you do actions of workers and silvercoins without having them. yellow tile 6 in 2019 edition let's you buy from anywhere with workers, so if he had 0 workers, he could take them and buy something with them on the same round, showing 0 workers after the turn.
