Elo question, bug? Not sure

Post by Ethereallz »

My wife and I play against each other. For a long time we only played 'friendly' but now she wants to compete for that sweet sweet elo.

When we play against each other, for some reason it doesn't exchange any elo at all when playing normal mode. Maybe I'm just being daft.

We usually play same IP, but in this particular game we weren't even on the same IP

Am I missing some setting?

I think I figured it out, if anyone else has this problem.
-------------------------
→ Power levelling
We encountered many situations of power levelling, linked to multi accounts, even if we are still fighting against such practices, it became obvious that the current system might encourage it.
To prevent this, any consecutive wins against the same opponent will reduce the amount of ELO points awarded from this victory. This reduction will be gradually higher as more consecutive wins are accumulated. This way, we encourage you to challenge other players to keep the original spirit of the ELO: show your skill at a game compared to the whole community, not just the same ones.

-----------------------

It's just a long winstreak. Interestingly enough it went from 5-->0 ELO in only 7 wins, after her victory. It didn't even let me leech the full points back from the victory over those 7 games.

I'm wondering how this works for really high elo players who are only playing vs a small set of lower ranked other players repeatedly.

You are a victim of having a winning streak. Hover over the ELO number in the game results and it'll tell you why the winner got no ELO.

You can read all about it here: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33785

Correct.

Unrelated . *, you have an impressive gaming profile! Master, expert, strong, at a large number of games.

I tried playing Hanabi with my wife. It ... did not go well. I am too demanding of a partner.
