Love Letter still down

Post by mutandi »

As of 3/25 Love Letter is still down. Is this due to a technical issue or a licensing agreement with the publisher? Can we get an update on the status?

I can see an information about the alpha version on the top of the webpage with my current "Love letter"s session. I guess, they are going to remaster this game.

And they couldn't wait until the end of arena season when it's so close?

They had to take it down because of some legal issues. it's in the game specific newsfeed

My best guess? Contract with Alderac ran out and now they have to make a deal with Z-Man Games for a new license

I think you are on the right track, personally. But since Asmodee owns both Z-Man Games and BGA, licensing the game itself shouldn't be a problem. My guess would be that the issue is that the BGA version still uses AEG's wordmarks and artwork. Hopefully an update to that will be all that's needed.

BGA has no direct authority over Z-Man Games or any other Asmodee publishers.
FYI, BGA being a subsidiary of Asmodee does not mean they control all publishers under Asmodee ownership.

I am aware of that. But deals are much easier when both parties are effectively in the same house. That is what I was trying to get at in saying that licensing shouldn't be a problem -- And many other Z-Man published games are on BGA as well.

To me, this is more likely going to be a copyright problem than a licensing one.
