Making Turn-Based Moves While Waiting for Real-Time Games

Post by Emerson_Matt »

Is it possible to make tables for real-time games that people can join and rather than only sitting and waiting for an opponent, make moves on turn-based games?

There are usually a few games that I enjoy more than I can find opponents for (currently PentaQuest and Cosmos Empires). I'd like to open real-time tables for them and during the long, long, wait for an opponent, make any turn-based moves I have or that come up while I'm waiting. I currently hit "Play Now" from the Play Now page on the real-time games, but then I can't navigate away without cancelling that.

This, or something similar, must be a common(ish) desire. Am I missing something obvious? Or non-obvious?

Yes, you can play 1 real-time and a lot of turn-based games simultaneously. And you may open several real-time tables at the same time. At the moment one of these games starts, you are out of all the other real-time tables.

Do you know the bell feature for less popular games? If you go to the page of a game and activate the bell, you get a notification if someone opens a table for this type of game.

I am not sure, what the problem is. On top of the Play now page, have you chosen Simple Game, Real-Time and Manual (or something similar?

Thanks. It's the waiting period that's the issue. I Simple Game / Real Time / Automatic as the settings and hit the Play Now buttons on a few games. Then, I'd like to keep those open while I make some turn-based moves (and, of course, keep an eye to see if anyone starts one of the real time ones). But as soon as I do anything, those tables close.

Once a real-time game is going, everything is smooth. It's doing something else while waiting for someone to join a real-time table that's the problem.

[Yep, I have the bell thingy, and that has gotten me a few games here and there.]

I use the Manual setting and don't have this problem. So you might try it as well.
