The point is, if the "auto-skip" is enabled, and the game does NOT auto-skip near the end of a hand, it informs the players that there is still a way for the points to be split to stop someone who is trying to go moon.

Or, to just avoid taking extra points. I have had games where a hand was going poorly, and I was likely taking 20+ points, but, toward the end of the hand, when I thought all my remaining cards were high, it did not auto-skip. So I examined my hand and thought, "Is it possible I can escape here by playing the Q of diamonds"? In fact, the King of diamonds was still floating out there, which helped me avoid taking the last few hearts.
