Game abortion

Post by __Daniel »

You wait 10-15 min for an arena game. In that time you have opened other tabs and lose the game, because you don t notice it was still open. You made yourself a cup of coffee and come back to a screen, where you lost said game.

I understand that you don t want to implement a possibility for players to stop games if they fear point loss, but it would be nice to check if the player is in any way ready for the game itself, after such a long waiting time.

So you could make a 30 sec accept game button, where you hide the stats of your opponent.
It could save both players a bad experience, the one waiting for the game, without an opponent and the ones who waited a long time and simply forgot the tab.

In addition, you could implement that the not afk part doesn t lose its waiting time, when the opponent is not there any more.

Or you could learn not to leave Arena searches open when you're not at your computer. Been there, done that.

Arena games do not require players to click "accept" once the game has enough players to start ????? My games always do.

I was wondering the same, the games do not ask for my confirmation (which also led to some lost games in the past, albeit I find it fair). However sometimes other players are in a waiting for confirmation status (or something like that), and the game is getting canceled eventually.

Maybe it is a personal settings option?

Arena games don't because you're not supposed to be allowed to choose your opponents for Arena (by refusing certain ones). I have heard anecdotal tales of people who get a confirmation screen, but I believe that would be a bug. It's not a personal setting you can choose.

There is no setting giving you the option to confirm Arena games. Whenever it looks like it's waiting for the other player to confirm it's just a display error. I think what is actually happening behind the scenes is it is auto-accepting for everyone and you aren't supposed to see that but sometimes it lags and lets you peek behind the curtain.

That is not entirely true. I’ve had arena games where it says waiting for x player and after a while it lets you cancel

Likewise, just today, and I was annoyed, because it was obvious the game would never start (I waited 6-10 minutes for the opponent to "start" the game, so eventually I clicked cancel. I did not want it to start an hour later when I was elsewhere and have me forfeit.)
