Have Backgammon restriction to "Strong" (my level) or above and get paired with people below that level. Latest incident on Table #535005270.

Een wrote: 16 May 2022, 18:51 A patch has been deployed adding an extra check before starting a table and adjusting the matchmaking if needed, which should fix the reported issues with level/reputation filter mismatches.

Please be aware that this deploy is experimental, as noted previously the automatic lobby is a complex module especially difficult to test. In case of issues we may have to rollback.
This bug still exists, unfortunately. Arena matchmaking set me up with 2 players under 75% reputation earlier this week, despite using the "never anyone below 75%" setting. Table 533727587.

I know Een has long since retired from BGA, so I'm hoping one of the current admins can look into fixing the bug. It's really a shame that I can't even control the karma of my opponents to that small degree.

Arena will always ignore settings based on other players personal ELO (e.g. “Strong”). This is to ensure in Arena rankings that players don’t always play against weaker opponents.

You can instead use settings per type of Arena game to restrict by levels of the Arena rankings (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite). These are set relative to your current Arena level, not to your ELO. It’s +/-1 or +/-2. Remember, different games may not have all six levels. So, in a six level Arena game if I’m currently Bronze I might be ok playing +/-1 (so Silver as well as Bronze) prefer not to play +/-2 (so Gold, but might still be matched) and never want to play others (so won’t get paired with Platinum, Diamond or Elite).

Do remember this will reduce the speed with which you get paired and the game starts, as you won’t be paired with active players outside your personal Arena restrictions. Also remember as you advance your level to check if your restrictions remain valid.

While this is absolutely correct, the table referenced by the above poster wasn't actually an Arena table. So in that case, it is looking on ELO rather than level. That said, I think both types of restrictions (Arena and non) have been ignored in the past.

I was simply responding based on the thread title, not looking at game links.

I think the bug still exist, my settings are to never play with opponents with a level difference bigger than 1, but I still continue to be matched with bronze level (Terraforming Mars).

Have you raised a bug? Here is all very well to discuss and see if it is happening for others, but anyone with ability to fix it will not likely see it here. If it is specific to TM, raise a bug with TM and make sure to link your tables (possibly as well as some other non-TM tables to show it is specific to TM).

How does linking some other non-TM tables show it is specific to TM?

Linking non-TM tables without the problem. I would expect a dev may think that matching is a framework issue, but if it really is happening differently for TM than for other games, this needs to be clear (it may still be some kind of framework issue, but would at least demonstrate TM and a point of difference to help diagnosis).
