Arena match-ups

Post by MaxXx33 »

The Arena should be better matched up so beginner players are not matched with Elite players. Matching players to their ability would be more enjoyable. If anyone knows how to change the filters for the Arena so that I'm not playing players who crush others, let me know.

You can set this on a game by game basis by clicking the cog icon to the left of the game's image on the Play now tab. Click Show advanced options on the pop up this opens then choose Player's level (change) where you will get options to limit the arena level of your opponents. Note this doesn't take their relative ELO into account.

It does work in Arena. This is what the settings look like for Arena: https://imgur.com/a/Kvpbm5D

But as the first person who responded to you said, you cannot filter by ELO in Arena (apprentice, regular, strong, expert, etc.), only by level. And even if your level is bronze, there can be bronze level players with 600+ ELO if they just started playing Arena or took a break for a while.

It doesn't really matter that much. As you play more games, your rating will become increasingly accurate to your "true" level.

You win or you learn. Losing to a significantly stronger player results in very little difference to your rating; meanwhile the higher rated player has more to "lose" depending on the outcome.

I have still not played 100 games online total, but already I have been able to play against very good players who I had previously only watched on streams. It would be fun to get to a positive overall win rate, but the experience so far has been a delight.
