The tie is possible!

Post by moypyr »

I just finished one great game, where we blocked each other's threats, and a question was who would have no legal move. And after my opponent used the last (!) possible tile, game finished with a tie. I was sure I losed, because I had no move.
But when I learned rules more carefully, I found this tie condition. Let you know it too!

It is explicitly stated in the (English) rules:
If both players succeed in placing their 18
hexagons on the board without achieving
any of the above 3 victory ways, the game
ends with a draw.

They might've corrected it recently, just a couple of weeks ago it was qualified as a 2nd player victory:

And I do wonder how this kind of bug hasn't been reported during several months of the game in beta

It wasn't a bug. White won by creating a continuous path from one edge to the other. Not only can you look at the board and see that in the replay, but it expressly says it on the page you linked to:
Type of winning
Continuous path from one border to its opposite
