Also, often on the forum the solid black background doesn't appear, instead I get the planks, it needs 1-2 refreshes for it to register. My suggestion is to completely discard the planks, it doesn't look good or practical on the forum or any game, we need a solid non-distracting background.

In games no, just the forum. For example now that I came to see the new messages, even the panels were white instead of dark grey, the frames around objects to say it better. One refresh and it was fixed, the planks also turned into solid background. I am on Firefox.

EDIT: The white frames appeared after I finished a game also, in the PLAY NOW section and the friends list I opened before I refreshed. I could try to capture some in a screenshot but you get the picture, they don't load properly. And when I returned to the forum to add this update, again, planks instead of solid bakcground, heh...

I'm able to reproduce and capture the "white frame issue" with Firefox's profiler. The issue seems to be related to some Google Translate API callback error (Uncaught TypeError: google.translate.SectionalElement is not a constructor) in the main page triggering a complete style re-compute ...

I feel like I only saw it once. And it's much better in my opinion, since it saves on dark mode bugs going to the normal bug queue where they both can't be dealt with and annoy the BGA dev/mods who have to say, "not our problem".
