Tile analysis time needed on a new phase.

Post by WayneInFlorida »

Hi, I tried adopting the strategy of making sure I went first. After the dice roll for a new phase, the players all need time to digest the full new set of tiles. What I found is I didn't have enough time to digest the full new set of tiles and then make my turn. The fact the other players get to use the time of player 1 to digest the new set of tiles, puts player 1 at a strong disadvantage. I believe the game was designed so player 1 should be in an advantageous position. There should be a flat time after a new phase for all players to digest the tiles before the counters start on players turns.

While you raise a legitimate problem with going first, what i would advise, instead of changing the whole game around, is getting faster at taking in the board.

I will say for 1v1 going first is important and I often expend many workers to do it. In fact the first move getting both ships is generally better than getting a mine (depending on the board).
