What is up with this website lately?

Post by 4gr8justice »

Argument #1: Premium membership is a good value at roughly 10 cents per day.
Argument #2: Horrible service should not be rewarded with any monetary compensation whatsoever.

Discuss.

It's hard to get too worked up about it given the price, but at the same time it feels like this is becoming a regular issue which ultimately negatively impacts on experience.

It would be nice if BGA decided to compensate premium members by extending their membership a day for every day there was a major issue/outage. That would at least show they understood the impact on users, and also give them an incentive to actually address the underlying causes (rather than just seemingly allow it to keep happening, which might not be the case but without evidence to the contrary feels like it is after the last few months).

Is it enough to stop me from renewing - probably not. But at some point in future it very well may

At this point, I think they should restrict further the free option. Maybe something like 1h or 2h of play a day (after which you can still finish the game you have started within that timeframe) and up to 5 or 10 play-by-play games at the same time. If you want more than that, you'd have to take a membership.

I don't know anything for certain, but I doubt restricting the free players is the answer. These service issues strike me as DDoS attacks and a total lack of infrastructure and preparedness to withstand them in the slightest.

Well said, all of it. Also, I agree completely. A tipping point will be reached however. Especially so if these interruptions continue to increase at the same rate we've witnessed thus far.

what DDoS attacks are these exactly?

Do you think they purposefully make the website run with problems and interruptions?

Pay for the service, or don't pay for it. Your choice.

For the last few days, on my computer (and probably other people's as well), the forum doesn't load at all. I'm amazed it loaded this time for me to make this post.

I made that decision and canceled my premium membership in February for those exact reasons. This site has been slowly deteriorating instead of getting better. Where is my money going?
