2 player games?

Post by edFactor »

Hi, I just got on here really. I logged in once some time ago and just came back to look around. It seems like everything is 2 player games, is there no patience to make multi-player games?

There seem to be two types of people on this site.

Those that only want to play 2 player, and those that avoid 2 player (if the game was designed for more).

If you take a long enough look, you will find many games that are set up for the maximum number of players a game will support, or at least more than 2. They are rarer, because there is more chance for someone to leave or do something else to ruin the game. But they do exist, especially in turn-based.

I'm certainly the later. And what idiot decided that RFTG is best played 2=player? So much of the flavor of RFTG is trying to figure out what your opponents might do each round you totally lose everything that makes RFTG a good game when you play it as a 2-player game. In fact I find it one of the worst 2-player games around.

that's your opinion. i prefer RFTG as a 2.player game since you have much more control over the flow. 3 or 4 player introduces much more random luck. so i will play the 3 or 4 player games with people i know for fun ... but with randoms .. i will only play 2.player games.

that the site supports both playing styles is a FEATURE and BENEFIT. you can easily change the game settings for the games you play, so why fault others for playing the way they want to play ?

Um, the 750+ voters over at BoardGameGeek....

Also, realize that "best" implies a value system. Not all people have the same value system, and calling people idiots for having a different set of values isn't welcome.

Be happy of the feature that you can set the number of players. Several games play differently based on the number of players, and it's good to let each person decide how many they prefer.
