Slow tournaments?

Hi!

I wanted to host an Ark Nova tournament for friends...we are 8 players in total. I thought you could play ONE game at a time.

e.g. Player 1 vs. 2
3 vs. 4
5 vs. 6
7 vs. 8

And ONLY when the first round is over will the next one start with
Player 1 vs. 3
2 vs. 4
etc.

Now a lot of games popped up...and we have 15 days instead of 30...although I had selected 30...

Isn't there a way to host a slow tournament? Some friends only make 1-2 turns/day.

A friend decided to withdraw...and we all agreed to cancel our games with him...but he got 0.5 points for every canceled game... he has 2.5 points because of 5 canceled games...and I have 1.5 points for one victory and the canceled game with him.

What the...? I mean...when all friends have canceled their games with him, he will have 7x0.5 points = 3.5 points...and someone who wins 3 out of the 6 games will end up with 3.5 points as well... 3 for winning, 0.5 for the canceled game.

I don't understand this.

If you have specific questions about something that happened in specific games in a specific tournament, why don't you provide a link to said games or tournament?

That's fifteen days per player, thirty days total for a game. 30 days is the longest time permitted for a tournament game as things are currently set up, and the game will end automatically at that point. If one player times out, and the other doesn't kick them out, they can finish the game as long as it doesn't take more than 30 days total.

You could try a swiss system tournament with seven rounds for your eight players, but you might not get exactly every player playing every other player once. (I don't entirely understand swiss system matching.)
