I guess there is an official 2-player variant in the Traders and Barbarians expansion.

Why not add the 5-6 players variant. I suppose it's not that complicated as it's just a larger board with few additional rules.
I would like to play with my friends but we are 6 and we are usually playing together.

Adding on again! I played Catan over the Thanksgiving break with family and the 5-6 player expansion with 5 players (cities and knights) is the BEST CATAN version there is. The map is big, the gameplay is faster (because of end-of-turn building) and the options are broader (more ports, more numbers, more everything).

Bring us 5-6 player base game and cities and knights!!!

4 player games take FOREVER, reason I only play 3 player games. I can't imagine how many hours I would need to put aside for a 6 player game.
