Automatic piece removal if no reaction possible

Post by Jafosty »

A small pet pieve of mine, but it would make games go faster if when you're defending and just have one piece or several pieces of the same type for the game to automatically remove a piece if you don't have any cards to react.

FWIW, you don't want this. That would give information to your opponent that you were not holding relevant defensive cards.

Just because you don't *play* exchange, doesn't mean you don't have one - but if the game automatically responded, that would in fact tell your opponent that you do not. Kudos to the developers for getting this right in the various aspects of the game where an auto-response would give more information than you would get if you played live tabletop.

It's the same for when it pauses to let you advance, even if you have no advance cards. I don't want my opponent knowing I am not *holding* an advance card by having the computer automatically skip things that I *might* be able to, but in fact, *cant* do. (Except, of course, in Spring. The game could definitely auto skip the advance step in Spring, because you can't play advance anyway, so no knowledge is given.)

Thanks Goodgulf for the reply, I couldn't have said it better myself.

You make a good point Goodgulf, seeing as there's an element of bluffing in the game, that would indeed break it. I guess I didn't thought about that.
