[PAID PROJECT] Seeking experienced BGA developer for a TEKKEN - The Board Game

Post by Khaki_Baron »

Hey there!
We’re Go On Board, the publisher behind titles like The Witcher: Old World, Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game, and TEKKEN – The Board Game.
We’re currently looking for a skilled developer to bring TEKKEN – The Board Game to Board Game Arena – and we’re ready to move fast.

🎮 About the game:
TEKKEN – The Board Game is a dynamic 1v1 fighting game co-created with the legendary Bandai Namco video game series.
With tactical hidden actions, reaction mechanics, stage effects, and a tournament mode, it's built for competition and high replayability.

✅ What we already have:
  • Full game rules and player aids (in English). https://docs.google.com/document/d/19V ... it?tab=t.0
All graphic assets, UI elements, icons, and boards.
A dedicated game developer from our team available for daily Q&A and support.
A team ready to provide clear structure, fast feedback, and playtesting.
💼 What we’re offering:
  • A paid contract – open to project-based or hourly collaboration.
Real visibility: work on a major IP with huge fan reach and future promotional opportunities.
Immediate start – our timeline is tight, and we need someone who can dive in full-time or with strong availability in the coming weeks.
🧠 Who we’re looking for:
  • Someone with BGA development experience – knowledge of the framework
You must have a portfolio of published games on BGA – please link to them.
Strong PHP and JavaScript skills, attention to gameplay logic, and UI implementation.
A proactive communicator ready to collaborate and iterate quickly with our in-house team.
📅 Timeline:
We want to launch the game on BGA as soon as possible.
The initial goal is to implement:
  • 2 playable characters
    1 stage
Once the core is stable and playable, we’ll expand the game by adding:
  • More characters to choose from
    Additional arenas and stage effects
The project is ready to begin immediately – we’re looking for someone with availability now, ideally with the capacity for full-time or near full-time engagement.

📩 How to apply:
Please send your application either:
⚠️ Before applying, please read through this thread, as I’ll be responding to questions and providing clarifications here.

Join us to bring TEKKEN – The Board Game to thousands of players around the world.
Let’s make it epic – together. 👊

Hi! Game dev here. You asked for credentials up front, so here's the list of games we've adapted on BGA:

It's a Wonderful World, Daybreak, Gaia Project, Spots, Pirates of Maracaibo, Mini Rogue, Parks, Cosmoctopus, Maracaibo, Jump Drive, Harvest, Villagers, Art Decko, Envelopes of Cash, Space Station Phoenix, The Great Split, Monster Factory, Arctic Scavengers, Caper: Europe, Streets, Strawberry Sunset, Astra... plus a few more that have not been released yet.

Tekken looks like an interesting project. Before anyone can provide you a quote, we'll need to see the rules. Yes, you've provided a link to the rulebook and, yes again, I did actually read the whole thread. But the link is broken. It links to a Google Drive document that only you can access.

In addition to the rulebook, we also need to see any components that have TEXT on them. It's quite possible there are none, which would be great from a developmental standpoint because cards with symbols are much easier to handle. But if there are any components that affect players' actions through text on them (i.e. player abilities, cards with clarifications, etc.), we'll need to know what those are, too.

Kayvon

You have a great portfolio.

I changed the permissions of the document - it should already be visible

And some good news: there is no text on the components.

Each character and each arena has a help sheet that explains all the symbols and mechanics. How to deliver this to players is a topic to be discussed at a later date I think.

Yes, those are the explanations I'm referring to that we need to see if you want them to be included in the game's implementation. The character sheets, the stage help sheet... everything that has rules, interpretation, or text that you want the developer to include in the adaptation.

Most of the rules are in the rulebook, but I think you'll be unhappy if the remainder isn't included in the BGA implementation.

Edit: The event cards are a good example of this. The rules say to resolve the event, but don't indicate how that would occur. I'm guessing that information is actually on the stage help sheet.

Kajetan, I want to help you here, but we're several messages into this exchange and still without enough information to gauge the work you're requesting. The last couple links you provided have restricted access.

Would you be willing to meet us halfway on this? Go through all your links from a private browser and verify you've provided (1) ALL of the text from (2) everything you want implemented that (3) can be accessed without your login?

I know it sounds like a bit of work on your end, but once you've verified everything, we can spend a few hours evaluating the required effort and email you a quote if you're still interested.

Hi Kayvon

Kajetan is a pretty good shot. In fact, my name is Christopher. However, you can call me Khaki - everyone calls me that ;)

I can do even more. I propose a live meeting on google meets with me and the developer who made this game.
We can exchange contacts to make it better

My sincere apologies, Khaki. "Kajetan" was a poor guess... no offense intended.

I'll talk with my development partner and reach out directly. Thanks!

We emailed you a quote a couple weeks ago, but haven't heard back. Did you decide not to pursue the BGA adaptation?
