Re: SPLENDOR: The Sun Never Set - Expansion

To reiterate another poster's comment, the The Sun Never Sets expansion contains "The Orient" and the "Strongholds" modules, whereas the Silk Road expansion contains the "Cities" and "Trading Posts" modules. BGA made an error with this post, switching the set of modules.

For context, these modules aren't new, as they were part of the older expansion called Cities of Splendor, where instead of two separate expansions, it was one expansion containing all four modules. From a few reviews I have watched, the consensus is that the "Strongholds" module was the weakest, while the "The Orient" module was the best, which is probably why Space Cowboys made those module pairings the way they did.

Aside from the upgraded artwork, here are a few rules changes compared to the older version of the modules off the top of my head. For "Trading Posts," instead of placing player pieces on a board, you are picking up tiles of those benefits from a limited supply. For "The Orient," the cards that allowed you to reserve a noble tile have been omitted. For "Strongholds," the plastic pieces have been upgraded to wooden pieces and look like ancient Chinese architecture, which definitely makes it look better on the table than the plastic pieces did. And a reminder for "Strongholds," but after you have three strongholds on a card and have done the required action of purchasing a card, you have the additional action of acquiring the card under your three strongholds, but not for "free," as you still have to spend gems or already have cards to acquire them.

With all that said, when I first saw this post, I thought Splendor had a new expansion out, but was disappointed when I found out it was just a rehash of their previous one.

I just hate this new Flanders trend where it's just not in. Look for vague things and see some lines and maybe this is it. Ridiculous. I loved the days when he was actually on game card or impersonating someone on components. Why is he not on a card here...

Can someone please explain to me what saying stupid “something” Flanders means here on BGA? Someone always says it in the comments of a new game.
(Including me, haha. Just don’t know what it means.)

I think the original announcement post was different, thus everyone's confusion.

Unfortunately since web browsers removed their caching feature, and archive.org only has older snapshots, I cannot double check this.

Usually Flanders from the Simpsons is hidden in the image of new game announcements (like a BGA version of Where's Waldo). When someone mentions him like that they are usually trying to subtly or vaguely say that they found him without giving away all the fun.

Is that Flanders in the upper right hand corner of the card in the bottom left of the image?

Will there be a tutorial feature for expansions?
