Swiss rounds tiebreaker for 2nd and 3rd places ?

Post by yodamus »

Hello fellow tourney players. I have a question. What determines the tiebreaker in a Swiss round tourney for 2nd and 3rd places overall. (since these award xp )...Example. I just finished tourney. 1st place easy. 5 wins 0 losses player won. 5 of us had 4 wins out of 5 games. 2nd thru 6th place. I got 6th. Curious as to how 2nd thru 6th got determined since we all had same record.

Go to the bottom just below where it says "Swiss System," then click the > symbol to expand the columns. The first tiebreaker is the total number of points scored by everyone you played. The second tiebreaker is the average ELO of everyone you played.

Basically, the tiebreakers are based on "strength of schedule." The first tiebreaker looks at how strongly your opponents played in the current tournament. The second tiebreaker looks at how strong they are in general.
