Game becomes hard to play when you have a lot of cards.

Post by Xander_ »

It's only me or it's common issue that it's very hard to pick card when you have a lot of them on hand more than 15 create weird movement back and forth preventing from card selection. Also it's unable to click on fresh card on hand.

Yeah, if I have too many cards, then I can't play on mobile. Once I get over 10 or so cards, it's too hard to choose the correct card on the tiny screen.

I once ended up with 39 cards, that was really painful! Haha but yeah, that's a pretty abnormally high number of cards to have.

We had a discussion with the game designer (Ignacy) and he said that if you have 10+ card in hand - you are probably doing something wrong. Each card in the game can be played in 3 ways and players if they want to win, they must play these cards as fast and efficiently as possible. If they are not playing to win the game, and just collect cards, nothing can help.
This also applies to the situation when you play the base set (88 cards) and you keep collecting cards until the deck and discard run out of them. This is kind of a bug that game could not be moved forward but this is not what is expected from a player when they play 51st State

This is a UI issue. I play on a laptop, the card popup keeps on coming in and going out again repeatedly.

Use the mouse on the bottom left hand corner of the card seems to do the trick.

There are other times though when even selecting a card seems to be difficult and required several tries, again I think it's something to do with the popups.

There is also a strange UI issue when the game log reaches the top of the screen, and the player panels come inside a column.

little video of the UI issue:

I have 7 cards.

When it's not my turn, the pulsing does not happen, but the popup is simply not displayed unless I hover over the left side of the card.

F5 does not help, and it's all the cards in the players hand on your turn.

@RicardoRix, could you please post it as a bug and add the video? It really speaks for itself, now I can see the problem.
Also, please add your browser with the version

I'm coming back to the argument that having 10+ cards in hand is a sign that the player doesn't play the game correctly. I don't see this as a good argument: while it might not be an efficient strategy, if the situation can happen in the game because of the game mechanics (like drawing a card after razing or making a deal), then the UI should gracefully support it.

BTW, I have updated https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=168839 to link to Ricardo's video.
