Anyone know what the site rules are for game playback limits?

Post by RealAnalysisTTR »

Right now, I'm mainly interested in looking at other people's Ticket to Ride games, so I try to use the game playback feature. I did pay the $36 yearly subscription, but it doesn't seem to get me anything special as far as playback.

I did a forum search on something like "playback you have reached a limit", and nothing came up. I also looked at the page https://boardgamearena.com/support, but nothing there, as far as someone to ask.

To try and be thorough, and show the exact error message, I went back and clicked `View game replay`, on a game I tried to replay a few minutes ago. This time it let me through, and I got everything I wanted.

Maybe it's getting on 24 hours since I last could do playback. It seems things vary on what I can do, maybe it's all related to how heavy the servers are being hit by the world.

But back to the problem, for a game, such as https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=676819105, I click `View game replay` and it takes me to game log page, but then the message says "You have reached a limit". And that's it.

Thanks,

Is there anything mentioned about playback in https://boardgamearena.com/premium ? Don't expect your subscription to grant you more than it's advertised.

As an aside, I've never received any messages about reaching a limit for replays. I don't use them a lot, usually only if I miss the notification for a game end and have to replay the whole thing to see what happened at the end, or sometimes when responding to forum threads where people are complaining about something going wrong for them (though usually I only review the game log, rather than doing an actual replay, though I think from what you are saying, they are both subject to the limit), and occasionally I play back moves in a game I'm in if I can't follow what happened based on the log, or sometimes if the action I thought I was taking doesn't happen (I want to understand what I misunderstood about the action I thought I was taking).

So I wouldn't say you won't be able to do replays "most of the time". If you're doing a lot of them regularly, sure, but how often are you doing them? You say you want to watch others' TTR games, but are we talking a few a day, 10+, more?
