STALKING!

Post by Countes-Olivia-Manny »

I would like to express my concerns regarding the permissibility of player stalking on this platform.

Additionally, I would appreciate clarification on the lack of account security measures in place.

Moreover, the current red thumbs system appears to be ineffective.

Thank you for addressing these issues.

I think you're probably going to need to be more specific about what you're talking about. I wouldn't name any names, though, as that can get YOU in trouble.

Some questions I have after reading your post:
1) what are you defining as stalking behavior in your particular case?
2) what do you mean by account security measures? Are you talking about people trying to log into your account? And if not, what are you referencing?
3) how do you feel the red thumb system is ineffective? What kind of games is this in reference to? (Friendly, regular, arena, or tournament? Games you are starting? Games you are joining manually? Games you are joining automatically?)

If you have already made a report about this (on the top right of the player's profile) then the the user probably did not violate any of the BGA-rules. If you still do not agree with the moderator who judged your case than his/her message should mention how you can object against his/her decision.

The site suggestion "Better Privacy: Hide Game History, Online Status, and only Mutual Friends" has almost 2600 votes. Setting your status to invisible or offline is a common feature on many platforms, such as Discord.

All accounts, particularly Premium accounts, should be configured to private settings to enhance user privacy.

I am tired of being pursued on this platform by an individual who operates multiple accounts and deliberately sabotages the Spades tables in which I participate.

Furthermore, 2,570 players have expressed their support for the feature "Better Privacy: Hide Game History, Online Status, and Display Only Mutual Friends". However, to date, no measures have been implemented to address this request.

OK, so red-thumbing probably does work as intended, but this person is flouting that. Continue to red thumb them. If you can prove it is the same account, report them (if there is an ongoing campaign of sabotage, you should have tables to reference). I'm curious how you expect the red thumb system to work with someone who wants to flout the system? If they're willing to do that, they're probably willing to do other things to get around whatever additional protections are put in place.

In the meantime, you could also try to find some like-minded Spades players and friend them or add them to a group. Play only with that group. Maybe occasionally venture out of the group to see if you can find some new players to add. If you admin the group, you can kick out the problem player if they manage to make their way in.

I don't disagree that there should be better privacy settings available, but I'm not sure how being able to hide your online status (or the other suggestions mentioned there) would help if you've already red-thumbed this person and they're still joining your games.

The majority of my Friends who previously participated on this platform have now departed permanently due to the conduct of one particular player.

This is all still super vague. What is the negative behavior they are engaging in? Are they cheating? Verbally harassing? Something else?

I personally think it's one of the most stupid features out there tbh
