Syggestion: winning 2 out of 3

Post by Den Eddie »

Is it possible to play multiple rounds.
Now you always play 1 game and the winner takes it all. But if it is possible to play multiple rounds and say first one getting x points wins in stead of first one with a point. It could take away the bias that the starting player wins.

It would be a good way to reduce the luck factor in 1v1 games, but it would take forever in a multiple players match.

I like this idea. I also think having a "x games ahead" would be good, since it takes out first turn advantage in a lot of games. (Best of 3 minimizes variance, but someone still goes first twice). If you have to be ahead by 2 games, it requires winning going second. It would be an even heavier commitment than the best of 3 though. I think it's a good option to have, unlikely to be used in longer games, but fast paced games of skill such as abstracts like Connect 4 or Kalah would love this.

imho This game is quick enough that it would not take forever. I second this idea. It would be nice feature in every game with medium to high luck factor and <= 15min game playtime

Just copy over all the backgammon doubling cube rules. Series could be best of 3, best of 5, whatever. Establish a couple of skunk and double skunk thresholds. It's a great idea just by itself (2 of 3), but might as well add some variability, especially if some of the code is already written.
