0% users

In the last couple of days (playing 6 Nimmt), I've come across users with a 0% reputation / completion rating. Sure enough, the game was quit 75% through by one of these users, wasting 20 minutes for 9 other players. This is not an uncommon experience in larger games of 6 Nimmt.

Now everyone makes mistakes (emergencies happen, networks go down etc) but I can't think how it is possible to get to 0% without constantly rage quitting or exhibiting consistent unsporting behaviour. Surely these users have no place on this site and should just have their accounts suspended until they can grow up enough to be constructive members of the community?

Maybe when you hit 0%, you have to spectate games to get some positive % back ... and if you hit 0% three times, your account is permanently suspended. I'm sure there are better means of adminstering this, but I just thought there should be a sanction for those who are really just here to cause hassle for others (whatever their sad motivation). It's not always easy for people to 'police' users when games are filling up quickly and life is too short to deal with such 'bad actors' on such a (normally) great site.

Point taken that you pretty much have to actively try to get to 0%. But are you aware that there are karma filters that will exclude being placed on a table with players with low karma?

Thanks - yes and I think probably not enough use is made of that functionality (it's hidden a little bit on the Restrict link on the right) - maybe if it was part of the dropdown on the left it would get more use. Also it only goes to 50% and there are probably some 'good faith' players with bad connections who might fall foul of that.
I tend to just jump on whatever 10 player game is being cued up - and it's only when you start playing and someone behaves strangely that you start checking out their reputation.

So there is a tool that exists that will prevent 0 karma players from joining a table at the option of the other players (if they can be bothered to use it). The filters already adequately handle this situation. 0 karma players are effectively banned vis-à-vis players who bother to use the filters. If the player base as whole decides they don't want to play with them, that the same as a ban.

And I disagree that you can get to 50% with just a bad connection. You have to have a bad connection, and then repeatedly keep playing knowing that you're having issues. Maybe you can say the first time isn't their fault. But by the third time they should have adjusted their behavior by playing turn-based or waiting until their connectivity issues improved.

As an experiment I set up a restricted ten player game earlier and despite there being lots of players it never got anywhere near filling after close to 10 minutes. I suspect people are just setting up 'vanilla' games to guarantee quick take up.
Maybe this says more about the people playing 6 Nimmt than anything else.

If you exclusively play real-time games, it is indeed hard to imagine getting to 0% Karma without deliberate behaviour.

Sadly, if you have at least 6 turn-based games going at the same time, all it takes is one multi-day outage to bring you down to 0%. You also face a pretty epic journey if you rely on turn-based games to restore your Karma to 100%.

On the other side of the coin, you can have someone that can sign up for scores of turn-based games, not finish a single one of them, but can still have 100% Karma after a few hours of real-time Can't Stop games. You can red-thumb such a player, but that won't keep them out of tournaments.
