That's not exactly what I am saying. I am saying you could pass science and bait the game with tempo and rush it out.
Yes. I understand. I'll try another rephrase; I was careless with my original phrasing. My original statement was a very shorthand way of writing, "I (and all players) would be well advised not to carelessly pass science cards, especially good science cards, unless there is a very good reason, because generally speaking, it is one of the most important tags, if no the most important."

Most people aren't likely to want to spend a dollar to "search for life" and risk being short a dollar at some key point. But, I've seen people look at Search for life and 2 other cards of little actual use, and carelessly pass search for life rather than one of the other two cards. And then, next thing you know, SFL, Quantum, MASS, AI central, Anti-grav, or whatever. People sometimes overlook the fact that SFL is often worth 6 MC to buy and play just to get Mass converter into play. Not strong players, obviously, but mid-level players, sometimes.

oh?

Let's examine the science draw cards:
AI central, 24 MC to buy and play, requires a one time reduction of energy and 3 science tags.
Inventor's Guild: 12 MC to buy and play, then 3 MC to buy the one card you get to look at.
Restricted Area: Variable cost depending on how many oceans you can put the tile next to, but still, once played, you see one card and need to pay 2 MC for it.
Development center: Costs 14 to buy and play, requires one energy production and expenditure, can be ruined by energy tapping or consortium, gives one card per gen.

How exactly is AI central not the best one? Yes, it's more difficult to play, but once played, its effect is miles ahead of the others.
AIC ain’t Mars U…

Mars U may not be as good at securing priority as AIC but it’s far superior in terms of raw draw capability and at a significantly lower cost.

Even Restriced Area is a better draw piece than AIC in most games in terms of cost effectiveness. 31ish credits to buy and play, say 5 gens of activations for 10 cards and likely net neutral points since it probably costs a heat bump as well versus 14 to buy and play that usually rebates 10 credits in value (plants or minerals and ocean bonuses), denial of additional points and rebates to opponents that tends to average around 6 credits, so you really only end up paying about 10 credits for 5 cards over those same 5 activations. Less volume of card draw, but significantly better efficiency overall.

And Do you know what anthracite win rate is?
Overall? No, not sure. Probably Anthracite has an 85% or so lifetime win rate over thousands of games.

Against me? Yeah, that I can speak to. I may be one of the best players to ever play this game in the history of the game, but Anthracite has a lifetime win rate against me around 66-70% over some 70 games or so over the last 5 and a half years. One of 4 people to ever manage that feat alongside Aspirin, Meat_Hook, and TypeZero. Anthracite is the real deal for sure, plus an excellent friend and teacher. Quality person to take tfm advice from.

@jay I am pretty sure I carry a good winning record against you. TypeZero never reached high level play, he is simply from the beginning, I was never impressed by any of his plays. We never have 70 games of course. Maybe 15nish games? And you don't have winning record against Seaholm right? BGA is so good, if you play here, they gave you all the match up records between players for all to see rather than parsing the data.

TypeZero was a 2100+ player back in 2019, when only 2 people had ever managed that with the other being Meat_Hook. Took me until January of 2020 to match that and both Meat_Hook and TypeZero at times hit 2200. TypeZero was absolutely a top tier player from 2018 to 2020.

Seaholme is an extremely impressive player but our head to head games total is tiny, which separates him from the rest of that grouping of players who all have 50-100 games played with me. I’d expect him to be capable of the feat if he played more, but the only players with 30 or more games played against me and a lifetime win rate in those games of 65% or better is those 4 (and both Meat_Hook and TypeZero fell slightly below that 65% win rate before both went inactive and my run at the top began). There are a ton of very impressive players aside from them who don’t have the win rate or the minimum number of games (or both), but the quality of Anthracite’s and Aspirin’s play in our numerous head to head battles over the last 5 and a half years is otherworldly and head and shoulders above the rest (which is insane considering the talent level of the players in the running).

I want to gave Meat Hook a spot light mention, I had a wonderful time chatting with him after a game along with anthracite and hodge, he couldn't be more genuine as a player, taking game off TypeZero and other top players at the time left and right. While others' game concepts have dropped off, his and his alone stands the test of time. At one point held both top spots and utterly dominated the TM community. I always remember when hodge lost to him time after time while we are all coming up, he jokingly said:"I just play so I can donate Elo to Meat."

It was Meat_Hook’s world once upon a time, and we all were just living in it. I expect many of us deposited large sums of elo at the Bank of Meat_Hook.

He was indeed great. Also a shout out to "Ed_is_a_thief"; very strong player, and taught me a lot about the game. Very generous with his time and insight.

I think I am the best right now. Especially if you consider my 3p skills which cant even be touched by most top 2p players. 2p I am confident that I will beat everyone in a 5 games series. My problem is that I don't have enough time to play more live games, which is really frustrating. Last night I get to finally play couple in a roll and it felt great. Even though I was exhausted my game was still super dangerous.

This is dangerous thinking and often leads to complacency. Generally I would say that if you think you’re top dog then almost assuredly this isn’t the case.

The better mindset is to always assume you’ve got room to improve and that someone out there can show you what elements of your game are lacking. No matter what competition I’ve been involved in over the course of my life I’ve always found (even while world rank 1 at multiple games) that when I thought I was Him I’d eventually find some one else out there who could show me that wasn’t quite the truth, but searching out those who could push me to the limit yielded even greater degrees of success once my mistakes had been pointed out and corrected.

As of today I’d likely say Parker is the best TfM player in the world, but there’s like 5 players in rotation for that honor in my mind and the 1A player tends to change from day to day since I can’t make up my mind and the differences in skill are so minute.
