UX Suggestion for Recruiter Visibility

Post by muttonnnn »

Loving the BGA implementation of Mind MGMT so far and have thankfully been able to play way more now that it's online! As I’ve played, me and a few others have been running into a consistent challenge that’s making it difficult for us to fully enjoy the recruiter role the same way I can when playing in person.

Right now, when the Agents ask, reveal, or shakedown, the information gets logged in small text on the side of the screen. As the Recruiter, it's easy to miss these interactions or lose track of what’s happened unless I’m constantly scanning the sidebar.

Now I'm not sure what is realistic here but it would be really helpful if there were temporary on-screen notifications or pop-ups for key actions similar to what BGA does in games like Catan, where a quick banner or icon shows what just happened. For example:

“Meru revealed Step 6”

“Dusty performed a Shakedown (HIT): Sunglasses"

This kind of visual feedback would make it much easier to follow the flow of play and reduce cognitive load, especially since the Recruiter already has a lot to track.

If this isn't possible, no worries. Thanks for all the hard work!!!

It's possible to do, but tricky. I can flash messages at the top of the screen, so I could pop up a list of them when the recruiter opens the page. But from my experience, that's also not really the norm WRT what BGA games do for the most part; in other games like Pax Pamir, for instance, a _lot_ can happen between turns and you generally need to read through the gamelog to understand it.

Maybe it can be an optional setting, I'm not sure.
