speed of real time lobbies

hi,

so im new to bga. im very surprised my 3 available speeds are like 8 seconds 15 seconds and 28 seconds. basically from a "i got x amount of time perspective" all 3 versions play the same. why is there no slower speed? every turn based game i can think of has at least 90 second turns (e.g. dune imperium)? you dont even need 90 seconds as you have a chess clock on bga but the slow option should really be something in the ballpark of 5 minutes + 45 seconds. I understand that the *top players for each game set the ramifications. I dont think this is a great idea because they might choose the settings people like themselves prefer. But having 3 options that basically play the same serves no purpose (the difference between fast and medium or medium and slow is gonna be 2 minutes of playtime).

Even the fast speed gives you 1:30 per move as long as you quickly execute the meaningless actions (blue card actions, converting heat and greeneries, etc.). That is a ton of time to consider one move in TfM. Other than the opening hand, I wish there were a faster setting available. Ideally something with a smaller increment and a larger time bank.

Yes. The time bank should be implemented. 5-ish minutes of time bank per game, to be used all at once or over the course of multiple turns. Can be used for a bathroom break or doorbell ringing or whatever.

what do you mean it gives you 90 seconds per move? i was trying in solo and trying to watch other players and im pretty sure normal speed gives you 15 seconds per turn? Am i missing something?

Your increment may be 15 seconds but if you take meaningless actions quickly, you will always have the full bank of 90 seconds to think over your turn.

oh, i get it now that 15 seconds is per action. i thought im suppose to play my whole turn in 15 seconds and thats why i only played solo with no time limit so far alright in that case the 23 seconds per action should be fine for me. could still use a bigger time time bank but its definitely playable. i was so confused how people manage to do full turns in 10-20 seconds.

alright i played a game the 15s timer is completely fine, you get 15 seconds per action, with all the rote actions that means you have plenty of time to think. i mean maybe not over the board with your friends plenty of time but its enough. i also would support a motion to give you a 5 minute bank in at least the slow time format because that way you could have 1 turn where you really think about your options or 1 turn where you can deal with something in reallife. i upvoted the according motion.

Yes, the + 0:15 is fine; the problem is, even if you do that 30 times in a row, it will never go above the maximum of 2:42 which is the maximum available for one turn. And sometimes that is not enough.

A good example - in Terraforming Mars, when one player has triggered end game and is way ahead, while the other player has dozens of moves to perform to try to score 35 points. That takes time to figure out.

Note that the increment is not per game action but program action: whatever the devs define as one step in their code gives you 15 seconds. Some game actions may be comprising multiple steps and each of them will add 15 seconds to your time.
