Too much town center

Post by biwebof »

Someone puts 3 workers on the clay pit, you need to stop them from getting 2 gold, so you go right to the town center, right away.

Then they start piling up on the quarry. Town center.

Gain too much wood on the forest? Believe it or not, town center.

Spend too much wood at the king's stonehouse? Also town center. Gain wood, spend wood.

You put a spam workers at the workshop? Believe it or not, town center.

We have the best game in the world, thanks to town center.

Town centre is risky. You take several actions to get a few silver back. Too weak imo. If your opponent is doing too much TC you should win easily.

From my very few plays, the game maths seems to be off IMO. The most obvious easy strategy seems to be the best:
Get resources and build buildings. Just ignore any fancy stuff.

There needs to be more incentive to do the far reaching and risky maneuvers in the game. This would bring a diversity in strategies.
Black market, Town Center, Cards.

My first few games I won with the buildings strat and allowed me to see how the mechanics were meant to play out.
So in my one game I had everything lined up perfectly for a black market deep dive, nobody blocked me and I still lost by 10 points to the noob straight buildings player.

It's a real shame because the game-mechanics are extremely interesting, unfortunate that the game-play doesn't return the interest.

That's literally the point of the Town Center, to give your opponent an incentive to NOT pile all-in on one spot.
