bad experience with low reputation player

Post by Hagardunor »

Today I kicked off a player with bad reputation in a turn based game. I left him/her more than 22h over the time limit before pressing the red button.

You must know that he/she started the game with a very bad reputation score (14%) but I was already enroled in the game when he/she entered it and had to cope with that.

Until I kicked him/her off, she/he's been dragging his feet on EVERYturn until she/he's reached the most extreme limit of the time allotted to play.

This drives me again to ask for a long awaited option of personal parameters setting, which is to refuse playing with any player below a given reputation score.

This kind of setting is available when you open a table, but not when you enter a table opened by someone else : when somebody with a bad reputation enters the same game after you, you have no possibility to withdraw from the table once the game hasa started.

I guess that BGA administrators would not like to prevent anybody with a bad reputation to enter a table after me. But I would appreciate an option to refuse starting the game as for real time tables. If this is not acceptable by BGA administrators as well, I would also be happy by an option that would kick me off a table automaticaly if someone with a bad reputation enters it after me.

Not in a turn-based game, but there's an accept screen in a real-time game. In any case, when you joined the table you knew it was open to low-reputation players (same applies to elo restrictions). If you don' want that, don't join the table. If you want to avoid specific players, red-thumb them. If you want to cherry-pick the opponents, play real-time or join only tables where you fill the last spot.

Yes, there could be per-player rather than per-table options, but given the current status I think that's the best you can do.

This is effectively the very option I would like to have in turn based games. Is it sci-fi or what ?

Good joke. Do you have any more silly advices of this kind ?

Oh yes ! You do have an impressive list of impracticable advices

I burst out laughing behind my screen !!! Imagine me waiting hours after hours that the table almost fill up, then jump to the last free slot to get the table without despicable players I dream of.

I do not want to cheery-pick my opponents, I just want to avoid the few game spoilers that haunt BGA. Your suggestion of an accept screen in turn-based games similar to those in real-time is the best you made : thanks for it.

So create your own tables and set a reputation filter.

Exactly. I really don't understand the OP's complaint.

Great. Wait 3 days for the table to fill up, wait 3 more days for every player to see the accept screen. One player declines, but they don't leave the table, because they think the last player to join should leave instead. Or they write in the chat "change the speed to 2 moves per day and I'll accept". Wait 3 more days for someone to react and leave the table. Wait 3 more days for someone else to join the table...

you are absolutely right.

However it bans you from many games if you are not premium. Well, this could be one incentive to switch to premium of course

A little bit exagerated, but it could happen. Not sure it would bother me as much as the one who played one turn every 2 days and never showed up at the end although we granted him almost a day beyond the deadline.
