3.5 years later: can i have feedbacks on my analysis of randoms hands

Post by Romain672 »

Hi,
3.5 years ago, when the crew was still new, I did lots of stuffs about the game to try to understand it, and one of them was an analysis of randoms hands:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1161901584

You have in the left 50 hands randomly generated, and in the right the differents tricks to success every mission, with some communications (communications are seperated in 3 columns: left immediate comm, middle comm after a while/to answer, right comm to answer).
At the top, you find the mission, and right below, you got a general strategy about the differents missions, writed 3.5 years ago.
You got a page for 4 players and another for 5 players, with the same basic strategy.
The games with a red border are the most interresting ones to read.

Dark green= win.
Light green=win with my strategy.
Orange=coin flip, someone can lead blue or yellow, don't have much reasons to goes one or the other. One of them is win, the other is lost.
Light red=win if you know all the hands, but you can't manage to comm / to know what the problem(s) are.
Dark red=find no way to win, even if everyone know all hands.

I would like some comments on those general strategy, my position don't seem to have changed much on those, but I know the experience of many players have increased a lot. And so if some part of it is wrong, I would like to discuss about it.
You could check too each game individually, and if you find a game writed red or orange, and you find a way to win (not by luck, but with a strategy, potentially really complicated), I would love to hear it. [ofc, the strategy should be able to be generalised. If you have something which improve 20% of games but makes 80% of games lost, that will not be good.]

If you want, you can still take my document, and either create a copy and check which hand you would play differently, or do the games like #41 to #50. And see how it goes.
Or feel free to use the extras on the right for what you want, they are there for that.
Or if you think you are strong, modify the games directly, you can do that too :)

Most interestings ones are missions 26 & 46 at 5 players. Note that since everyone agree on a strategy, and there is no mistake, checking the 5 players could be more interresting.

Thanks :)

Hi @Romain672

Just one thing / my 2 cents for 41: win only first and last

A good strategy would be : let the captain start (if he has 1 or 2 sub and/or one high card):
He plays his highest, (Sub 3 or highest color, he can wait others clue if needed or if single 9)
then all others clue their strong suites.
He then plays in the others long strong suits.
At the end he plays sub 4.

You can't win any tricks with a sub. It's normal crew not deep sea. That's why on my document the commender didn't said anything about wanting to do the task or not, since he can't.
