Clarification on ranking

Post by dewaxman18 »

I’m playing hearts and confused on how a ranking is made. I see ELo, all time and season rankings. I don’t understand how one is eligible for all time rankings. I get the playing in the arena and season leagues too.

Can someone explain how the ranking works?

Best,
Dan

Seasonal in Arena ratings earned from playing Arena. All-time ratings are earned by playing rated games, it's the number you see on your account for that game. When playing in Arena you'll score your Arena points based on Arena ratings and your regular points based on regular rating. (So if you are significantly higher rated than your opponent in Arena but about even in the regular ratings your Arena scoring is based on the expectation that you'll win but your regular ratings are based on an even outcome, so you'll score worse in your Arena scale than your regular one in such a game.) When playing rated outside of Arena you'll score your regular points only based on your regular rating.

Elo is "all time". But if you don't play in about 2 months you'll be removed from the "all time" list. You keep your elo, and as soon as you play again you'll be listed again where you belong, so much for "all time"

So how do you get to see your ranking? Just click right until you see your name out of thousands of players?

For all time ELO ranking, it only shows you if you are in the top 100 for that game. One way to find it is to click on the ELO score itself on the Play Now page. You will be taken to a page that says "[username]'s statistics at [game]." Next to your ELO on that page it will show your rank or say "not ranked" if you're not in the top 100 (or that game doesn't rank players at all).
