Table limits

Post by -Es- »

Being at 1250 ELO in Puerto Rico I created a game for average players and below.
A 1580 ELO player joined, as he is still an average player.
I don't like to play against someone with over 300 ELO difference, it is just more fun when people have approx the same ELO (more or less 200 difference would be the max for me).
So I told this player I would expell him because of his high ranking. He responded that he joined because he wanted to "teach me the game"
That is very nice ofcource, but he didn't want it anymore when I suggested the ELO to be switched off
My suggestion would be that, as you can select the player level you could also have a max ELO difference selected to better balance the players at the board. Especially for the lower ranked players.

yep, asking to switch to ELO off is a great way to distinguish between those who genuinely want to help .. versus those who do not.

ELO differences can vary widely depending on the game, so a restriction on ELO difference (+/- x) might make some sense. it would definitely make some turn.based games less unbalanced, but would do so at the cost of fewer available players.

They should have it where it is restricted from 0-1000 elo, 1001-1100, 1101-1200, 1201-1300 elo, etc. etc.. Instead of having it restricted to beginners average players, good players, etc etc.

Or have an optional restriction that is like reputation, a percentage of the table owners elo. So, a table owner with 1250 elo could restrict the table to within 10 percent plus or minus. That would mean that only players from 1125 to 1375. 15 percent would allow players from 1062 to 1438 and so on.

seems nice, could provide 2 ways , by % or absolute: like +-200
